Recently my life has been a little upside down due to the
Colorado flood which impacted my small town of Lyons, CO. Half of the town was destroyed. I was lucky enough to not lose much, except
for my horse clippers and my car. Our
home is 50ft from the river, but out of all the townhomes ours stayed high with
only basement damage. Some of our
neighbors were not so lucky with up to four feet of water in their homes.
We made the decision to move all of our important belongings
to the second floor and off the garage floor prior to the rush of water. We were evacuated by the sound of sirens at
2am on September 12, 2013. Later we were
stuck without cell phone, electricity, water, and sewer for 2 days. The town still doesn't have any utilities and will not be habitual until after the holidays.
My horses are okay, luckily they live away from the river, not at my home.
The town of Lyons is so small with little money to build
repairs so please try to help if you are able.
A friend of mine is selling jewelry thorough Oct 2, 2013 and 10% of the
sales will go to help flood victims. Lucky for us horse girls, there is a
little horse action in her jewelry selection! Check out her boutique.
